Jouf Region Municipality provides through its e-portal an open data library for all residents, investors, and visitors of the region, enabling them to benefit from published data and information at any time without visiting the Municipality. By making this data available to the public, the Municipality seeks to raise awareness of its statistics, reports, and studies, and increase transparency with the residents of the region.

Users can easily access the required data through its classification category. After obtaining the data, it can be browsed and used, as it is exported in several different formats. Users can also integrate open data with other applications such as smartphone apps without needing to download it, by using it directly through the file link.

What is Open Data

Open data is the data and information of Jouf Region Municipality available to all users of its e-portal. It has been provided to enhance participation and raise the level of knowledge. Visitors and beneficiaries must review the data usage policy to learn about any updates. Reuse Terms

• The user must not distort the data or its source.
• This data must not be used for political purposes, to support unlawful or criminal activity, or in racist or discriminatory comments, incitement, negative influence on culture or equality, or any unlawful activity contrary to the customs and traditions of the Kingdom.
• When using this data, the source must be clearly and explicitly indicated as Jouf Region Municipality.
• When using this data, the period and date of data display must be indicated.

The policy applies to all data and information classified as "Public" that is owned by the Municipality, including electronic data and any other form of recorded data.

1. Open by Default: Data classified as "Public" is made available to everyone unless its nature requires that it not be disclosed.
2. Open, Machine-Readable Formats: Published in common formats that allow automated processing, such as CSV, XLS, JSON, XML, and Excel.
3. Timeliness: The latest version of datasets is published regularly.
4. Comprehensiveness: Includes as much publishable detail as possible, together with metadata that explains it.
5. Right of Access: Available to everyone without registration, identity verification, or providing a justification.
6. Free of Charge: Open data is available to everyone free of charge.
7. Usage Policy: Subject to a usage policy that sets the terms, obligations, and restrictions; using the data indicates acceptance of it.

Publishing Controls

• An approved publishing plan sets priorities, publishing frequency, and timelines.
• Datasets are identified from data classified as "Public" and continuously reviewed to verify classification.
• Published on the Municipality website in open formats, together with metadata and the usage policy.
• Quality is assessed against the standards of the Municipal Data Office at the Ministry: completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and non-duplication.
• Beneficiaries can suggest additional datasets through the Municipality website, and requests are routed to the Municipal Data and Statistics Department.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Municipal Data and Statistics Department: Implements the policy, verifies that data meets the publishing controls, and approves and publishes data on the Municipality website.
• Organizational Units: Provide open data and metadata and share them in line with the publishing plan.
• Data Office: Monitors compliance with the policy and submits compliance reports.
• General Department of Digital Transformation: Develops and operates the publishing platform and records usage and download statistics.
• Open Data Users: Comply with the open data usage controls.
